Abstract: Binary pulsars are extremely stable and most accurate clocks in orbit. They allow the determination of neutron-star masses and provide excellent tests for general relativity theories. This paper reviews aspects of pulsar O – C analysis and compares with O – C applications in classic stellar astrophysics. Pulsar studies are a school example of how, through increasing accuracy in the observational O term, the associated calculated C term leads to increasingly complex theoretical formalisms in the O – C investigation.
