| Abstract: |
New results and persistent problems are highlighted. Particular progress has been made in regarding galaxies as dynamical systems, in the abundance properties of galaxies of different types, and in the investigation of mixing mechanisms. The advent of 8-10m class telescopes will have a major impact on our understanding of the chemical evolution of galaxies. |
