Abstract: |
Our theoretical model for the global circulation in the stellar convection zones is applied to predict the differential rotation of a K0 III giant. Large equatorial acceleration on the surface is found which is smoothly decreasing inwards to become almost zero at the base of convection zone. The latitude-averaged angular velocity shows little variation with depth. The prediction of large surface differential rotation together with the relatively high surface rotation rates make the luminosity class III giants to be much-promising candidates to probe the theory of stellar differential rotation by observations. |
