We present new calibrations of the surface brightness S_K of single main-sequence M stars in the K band, and S_TiO in the narrow-band lambda 7165/7500 AA TiO flux deficit, as a function of spectral type. For the cases of Z Cha and AM Her, we demonstrate that using either S_K or S_TiO yields the same distances within the uncertainties. |
