Abstract: After about 2.5 years of data from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, well over 100 new CVs are emerging. These represent a wide variety of systems, with most followup observations revealing low mass-transfer systems with periods below 3 hrs. Due to the ability of SDSS to reach fainter magnitudes, almost a quarter of the systems show the underlying stars. Another quarter have strong HeII fluxes. The database is a good resource for population and evolution studies of both CVs and pre-CVs, as well as the effects of the binary membership on the activity level of the secondary stars.
