Abstract: We present the preliminary measurements of the K'-band luminosity function (LF) of field galaxies obtained from K'-band imaging of a galaxy sample randomly extracted from the ESP Redshift Survey (Vettolani et al. 1997). The K'-band LF agrees with those previously obtained by other authors and it is reasonably well fit by a Schechter function with flat faint end. The redshift distributions for the different morphological types of galaxies, obtained on the basis of their colors, are significantly different among them: irregulars dominate at very low redshift, ellipticals follow the high density peaks and spirals are nearly uniformly distributed over the redshift range 0 < z < 0.25.
