Abstract: |
The ultraluminous IR galaxies unveiled by deep submm surveys very likely are high--redshift merging and interacting systems. The analysis of these observations should provide us with interesting constraints on the evolution of the merging rate in the universe. We briefly review the modelling of ULIRGs in the context of hierarchical galaxy formation and we underline the difficulties. |
