Abstract: We pay attention at the existence of straight segments of spiral arms, first described by Vorontsov-Vel'yaminov as `rows'. Now they are found in more than a hundred of galaxies. Their properties are shortly discussed here. It is argued that some wave processes, possibly related to chock waves, should play a crucial role in their formation. Another type of structural features, which may have a similar nature, are hexagonally-shaped inner rings, encircling the nuclei of some spiral galaxies.
