Abstract: We have conducted a number of N-body simulations using a standard tree-code to determine differences in the line-of-sight velocity profile between models with a central oval distortion, which rotates faster than the main spiral of the system and models in which central bar and spiral have the same pattern speed. Typical velocity profiles along the major axis have been calculated for the two types of models using axisymmetric profiles based on near infrared observations of NGC 5861. A clear difference can be seen which makes it feasible to distinguish between the two cases.
