Abstract: |
SCUBA, the Submiilimetre Common-User Bolometer Array, on the James Clark Maxwell Telescope (JCMT) has revolutionised sub-mm astronomy. Being the first large-format and well-supported facility camera, it has opened up new areas of study. For the first time, wide-field studies are now possible. This paper describes the breakthroughs and progress that have been achieved in this area and, spurred on by these discoveries, reviews the successor to SCUBA: the next generation and wider-field instrument, SCUBA-2 |
