Abstract: We report on new VLA H53α line observations at 7 mm of the nuclear region of NGC 253 with an angular resolution of 1'' (15 pc at a distance of 3 Mpc) and a velocity resolution of 44 km s-1. An ionized component with a peculiar velocity VHel~ 400 km s-1 is detected at a position 0.3'' NE of the continuum peak. The kinematics in the nuclear region clearly show a counter-rotating circumnuclear disk, confirming the earlier H92α result of Anantharamaiah & Goss (1996).
