Abstract: We present VLA HI and radio continuum observations of a spectroscopically selected sample of five nearby E+A galaxies. Of these two are in clusters and three in the field. We detect only one E+A galaxy. Its HI mass is 4.3 ± 0.3 × 109 h-2 Msolar. The upper limits for the other galaxies are a few times 109 Msolar. None of the galaxies are detected in radio continuum. The upper limits are ~ 1021 h-2 W Hz-1. This shows that the E+A's are not dust-enshrouded starbursts, but the limits are not good enough to rule out modest rates of star formation of a few Msolar yr-1.
