Abstract: Classical studies of accreting white dwarfs have assumed spherical symmetry. However, a recent observation of SN1999by provides evidence for the asphericity of this subluminous type Ia supernova (Howell et al. 2001). A possible explanation for this asphericity may be a rapidly rotating progenitor since in close binary systems, the transfered matter carries angular momentum to spin up the accreting star. Here, we present models of white dwarfs which accrete helium rich matter, with effects of rotation considered.
