Abstract: The underlying physics of our current understanding of accretion disk turbulence is reviewed. Magnetohydrodynamics is essential to understanding the onset and maintenance of disk turbulence. The behavior of low ionization disks is particularly challenging, and involves the physics of Hall electromotive forces as well as Ohmic dissipation. Large scale computation has been, and will continue to be, a critically important laboratory in which to study accretion disk turbulence.
