Abstract: VLBA polarimetry allows the physics of relativistic phenomena to be probed in ways which total intensity imaging alone cannot reveal. We present results from a rotation measure survey of 40 AGN performed with the VLBA. The jets of BL Lacertae objects are found to have rotation measures comparable to the rotation measures seen for quasar jets. The jet of M87 shows reversals in the line of sight magnetic field over distances of less than a parsec. At frequencies less than 15 GHz the parsec scale rotation measure must be known if the true intrinsic polarization angles in AGN are to be recovered.
