Abstract: Can eccentricity be long lived in fluid disks? Assuming a razor-thin disk with zero shear viscosity, there is a simple family of models which precess coherently, in global geostrophic balance, driven by internal pressure gradients. If real disks are able to remain eccentric, their structure should be similar to these idealized models.
