Abstract: We discuss recent work which has allowed us, starting from the established physics of galactic spirals, to present a new Accretion-Ejection Instability of magnetized accretion disks. Driven by magnetic stresses rather than by self-gravity, it has the property that the accretion energy and angular momentum can be evacuated vertically by Alfvén waves from the disk. We then show that similar waves, emitted by the lopsided structure near the Galactic Center, might explain the radio lobe observed to emerge on a scale of ~ 100 pc in this region.
