Abstract: |
Microlensing experiments were originally proposed and initiated to search for Galactic dark matter in the form of compact halo objects (MACHOs). Over the last decade, however, microlensing has been developed into a powerful tool in various aspects of astronomical research besides the original goal of searching for MACHOs. This progress was achieved mostly thanks to the improvement in the observational precision and the advent of new types of observations. In this paper, we discuss several additional fields for which lensing observations, through the use of a future generation of instruments, can provide useful information. |
