Abstract: The prominent southern globular cluster ω Centauri is one of the best studied star clusters. This is partly because of its huge size (3-5 106 Mdot ), but also because it is the only galactic globular cluster with multiple populations. omega Cen furthermore hosts the largest known population of metal-poor delta Scuti stars, or SX Ph oenicis stars. This presentation gives a brief description of the peculiarities of the cluster and of the properties and potential of its SX Phe members.
