I show that my newly developed code for fully time-dependent nuclear reaction networks is ready to be incorporated into 3D stellar evolution calculations. The code is capable of being executed in parallel, which is demonstrated on a shared-memory system utilizing OpenMP. The numerical method employed can also be used to solve the spatially coupled stellar structure equations, but the computational efficiency will largely depend on the ability of the solver to handle sparse matrices. The inclusion of a time-dependent convection theory in 1D stellar evolutionary calculations increases the required integration steps to follow the main sequence lifetime substantially. It therefore seems even more challenging to include a time-dependent convection theory in 3D stellar evolution calculations. |
