Abstract: We present a brief update on the paper ``An Upper Limit to the Mass of the Radial Velocity Companion to ρ1 Cnc'' published previously by McGrath et al. (2001). Two orbits of HST/FGS1r observations obtained subsequent to the published results have allowed us to determine both the parallax and proper motion of ρ1 Cnc directly from our data, whereas in the earlier work we adopted the Hipparcos parallax because of the short one-month baseline of the observations. The main conclusion of the earlier paper remains unchanged but is now more significant: no reflex motion induced by the 14.65 day period radial velocity companion has been detected, allowing us to place a 5-sigma upper limit of 0.3 milliarcseconds on the semi-major axis of this motion, firmly ruling out the preliminary Hipparcos value of 1.15 milliarcseconds. The corresponding upper limit on the true mass of the companion is 30 Jupiter masses, confirming that it is a sub-stellar object. We derive parallax and proper motion values of 79.8±0.5 mas and (μαδ) = (-483.4±0.7,-236.9±0.5) mas/yr for ρ1 Cnc, which compare with Hipparcos values of 79.8±0.8 mas and (-485.4±1.03,-234.40±0.72) mas/yr.
