Abstract: We study the nonlinear evolution of an inviscid gaseous disk with a protoplanet on a fixed circular orbit using 2D hydro simulations. We find that flow dynamics in the co-orbital region depend sensitively on the smoothing factor adopted in the protoplanet's potential. Besides the mixing and flattening of the potential vorticity profile through the co-orbital region, we observe the production of isolated vortices out of the protoplanet's Roche lobe when the smoothing length is small. These vortices are localized higher density ``blobs'' and they propagate in the co-orbital region. They also impart significant torques on the protoplanet, both in magnitude and time variation.
