Abstract: |
The ever-increasing accessibility of astronomical data has tremendous potential for supporting powerful science learning. In this interactive casestudy and panel session, participants explored several different space telescope projects (including NASA’s Great Observatories) that have created educational materials and programs that enable student-driven investigations by providing access to professional science data. Participants examined the attributes of the various programs including strategies used to facilitate learning from data; common challenges faced by developers; and lessons learned. Small group discussions led to the identification of key insights and unresolved questions regarding the growing number of projects that aim to engage learners with “real” astronomical data. |
