Abstract:	This paper describes the data reduction pipeline of the SPIRE instrument for the Herschel Space Observatory. The pipeline is being written in Java and Jython as part of the multi-platform Herschel Common Science System. We concentrate on the algorithmic design of the pipeline based on the analysis of test data. We also discuss some of the alternative designs under consideration and give the reasons for the design adopted.
