Abstract: |
Clues to the early formation of the Milky Way disk are preserved within the detailed stellar abundances of its most metal-poor stars. Only a few metal-poor disk stars with [Fe/H] < −1 have been analyzed for their abundances until now. We have observed a large sample (> 75 stars) of metal-poor disk stars isolated from the catalog of the RAdial Velocity Experiment (RAVE). While the analysis is ongoing, we have confirmed that a significant metal-poor disk population with an alpha-element enhancement slightly greater than the local stellar halo. This suggests an early and rapid formation for these stars. |
