Abstract: For disk galaxies at intermediate redshifts in the Hubble Deep Field North, age and metallicity gradients and dust extinction are investigated using the color gradients in the disk region. The data are compared with model simulations of dusty galaxies with various age and metallicity gradients. We find that the sample galaxies contain some dust, but are not optically thick, and that the color gradients in the stellar disk are dominated by populations that become younger and/or less metal-rich with increasing distance from the center.
