Abstract: We present a study of luminosity, stellar mass, Hα luminosity, and metallicity from a sample of 2,253 optically selected, morphologically classified bright galaxies (r≤16) derived from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. The galaxies are visually inspected for morphological classification. This is the first time such a large homogeneous sample has been used to investigate the morphological dependence of these quantities. We show that the Schechter function gives a reasonable fit. This study provides the zero-point of galaxy evolution towards higher redshifts.
