Abstract: Seeing in the Dark, the PBS television special on amateur astronomy and the wonders of the night sky, was first shown on PBS in September 2007 and repeated in June 2008. Developed with funding from the National Science Foundation, it has a PBS website (http://www.pbs.org/seeinginthedark/) that is designed to draw in and engage astronomy buffs, teachers, students, families, and the general public. The site includes interactive star charts, student access to a telescope, educational activities for teachers and families, and a wide range of information for beginners. Some of its contents and design might serve as a model for websites being developed for the International Year of Astronomy. We would like to encourage linking to the site and its educational materials from your IYA site if the information the site already provides is useful in your work.
