Abstract: By analyzing the polarization (Stokes) spectra of the neutral iron line 630.25 nm acquired from the sunspot by S3T, we show that the occupation number increases exponentially with the magnetic field strength. This newly found effect is operative only on the level which has non-zero Landé factor. Such effect is directly identified by observing the variations in line intensities of the neutral mercury line 546.1 nm as well as the pair of neutral sodium D-lines 589.0 nm and 589.6 nm by tuning the induction of magnetic fields in the laboratory.
