Abstract: Dust destruction occurs in a variety of interstellar environments, including regions of intense stellar radiation fields (HII regions, γ-ray bursts, ...), in the hot gas behind supernova remnants and in interstellar shock waves. Overall the interstellar dust survival time in the galactic interstellar medium is dominated by the effects of dust destruction and disruption in supernova-generated shock waves in the warm intercloud medium. This review summarizes these destructive processes and indicates the typical destruction timescales.
