Abstract: The 9th Bioastronomy conference, “Molecules, Microbes and Extraterrestrial Life” was held in San Juan Puerto Rico from July 16–20, 2007. Originally established as a triennial meeting of the Commission on Bioastronomy of the International Astronomical Union, the Bioastronomy meetings have grown in size and scope, exemplifying the growth and breadth of this interdisciplinary field. The 2007 meeting had a record attendance of 234 participants, and hosted a rich variety of ancillary workshops, meetings and Education and Public Outreach activities. This paper presents an overview of the conference.
