Abstract: We are undertaking an extensive photometric study of the open cluster NGC3293, based on thousands of CCD-frames in Stroemgren system. In this paper we briefly explain the data reduction method and discuss the analysis which concentrates on establishing the degree of constancy of the comparison stars. We select 15 constant-star candidates and examine their long-term and nightly variability, finding only 3 such stars to be really constant.
