Abstract: We will determine the effectiveness of the Mental Model Building teaching methodology, coupled with actual astronomical observations of the Moon, in the students’ conceptual understanding of the cause and process of the lunar phases. This project will also introduce the students to the use of the scientific method in actual lunar observations.
