Abstract: It has become widely recognized that there is a shortage of students coming out of provincial high schools who plan to pursue careers in scientific and technical fields. We aim to capture the interest and excite the imaginations of Grade 11 students in a three-day camp. The School for Nuclei, Astrophysics, and Particles (SNAP) will combine an introduction to astrophysics with the building and flying of a balloon-borne cosmic-ray detector to the very edge of space.
