Abstract: I review the present status of the pulsation studies of close binary systems, focusing on pulsating gainers of semi-detached Algol type eclipsing binaries. I discuss the advantages of pulsation studies of eclipsing binaries, influence of the activity cycles of a mass-losing star on mass transfer and accretion rate and on how it can drive the amplitude and frequency variability of the acoustic oscillation spectrum. The sensitivity of stellar acoustic frequency spectra to mass accretion makes pulsating mass-accreting gainers the sensitive indicators of the short-term evolution in binary systems.
