Abstract: FUSE is the primary reason most of us attended this conference. The satellite is well into its fifth round of observing and as of July 2004 has produced more than 47 million seconds of science data on over 2100 unique targets. Given that nothing like a “next generation FUSE” is on the drawing board at this time, the project proposed to NASA to continue FUSE operations for at least several more years. This proposal has been accepted, and at this writing Cycle 6 proposals have been submitted for consideration in the next round of observing. I discuss the current status of the satellite and operations, and describe the efforts taking place to maintain the capability for high resolution far-UV spectroscopy well into the future.
