Abstract: |
The evolution and outburst are two major topics in the field of
cataclysmic variable stars (CVs). In this manuscript, I summarize
some of the recent progresses of our research group at YNAO in two
topics by monitoring nearly 50 eclipsing CVs and nearly 20 M-type
short-period eclipsing binary stars for several years. Our
scientific propose are: (1) understanding the evolution of CVs by
statistical investigation of the changes of the orbital periods of
eclipsing CVs; (2) investigating chromospheric activity on the
mass-losing secondary star in CVs by monitoring the long-term
variations of the light curve of some M-type eclipsing binaries
(e.g., the detection of the most energetic flare observed in
R-band); (3) investigating the properties of mass accretion in CVs
by monitoring some magnetic CVs and then understanding physical
mechanism that caused the outbursts of CVs. |
