Abstract: We report on the Chandra HETG observation of the narrow line Seyfert 1 galaxy Ark 564. We found that there are multiple phases of absorbing gas with ionization parameter ranging from log ℰ ∼ –3 to 1 erg s-1 cm. The outflow velocities of two components are low (∼85-170 km s-1), but there are three components outflowing with ultrafast velocities of ∼0.1c. Such high velocities provide strong constraints on the physics of outflows which may also be important as modes of feedback into the host galaxy.
