Abstract: We investigate the conditions for which the line-driven disk wind model reproduces broad absorption line (BAL) features. We research the structure of the disk wind using non-hydrodynamic calculations for a wide range of the parameters. We compare the resulting wind structure with the wind properties of X-ray observations of BAL quasars. We find that the probability that the BAL is observed is large for large black hole mass and large Eddington ratio. When the density of gas at the wind-base is the same as that of the broad emission-line region (BELR), the disk wind model can reproduce BAL features. Our results support the new hypothesis that the wind-base is the BELR.
