Abstract: |
Via Hubble Space Telescope (HST) spectroscopy, we find He II lines in surface spectra of the
DBV GD 358. We propose that pulsation heating of GD 358's atmosphere
is responsible for producing the He II lines. We also apply the
so-called “chromatic amplitude method” to identify the three
largest modes observed and obtain consistent results with those
obtained previously from the Whole Earth Telescope (WET) observations. |
