Abstract: |
Several projects in the space agency have flirted with cloud solutions,
all with fairly positive results. In this talk a quick overview
of the projects will be given. They span a large number of perhaps surprising
areas.
Much of ESA's videoconferencing is now done using cloud resources.
Perhaps more than one might expect, several projects from earth observation to astronomy use cloud tech for
data processing.
Some more detail will be given from the Gaia perspective, as
this is the authors' area of expertise. Within Gaia we have experimented with
Amazon for data processing and are investigating how catalogue access might
be facilitated with this technology. |
