Abstract: |
Low metallicity galactic systems in the Local Volume (within ∼ 10 Mpc)
are the best proxies for the environments during the early phases of
galaxy evolution. Having access to these systems on a star by star
basis allows to study the properties of such unevolved galaxies
in detail, providing direct observational data of evolution and
instabilities of stars similar to their unobservable cousins at redshifts
close to the epoch of reionization.
In this paper we present preliminary analysis of the low metallicity
galaxy NGC 3109, where we found, besides a number of lower luminosity
emission line stars, a very good candidate for a LBV-like variable. |
