Abstract: |
The setting for the INSAP V conference, the Adler Planetarium and Astronomy Museum, is not only America's oldest planetarium but is also home to North America's richest collection of early modern instruments of astronomy and related scientific disciplines. This second aspect was not originally part of the planning for the new Chicago institution, yet a visit by the founding director of the Adler, Philip Fox, to the venerable collection of historic scientific instruments in Dresden appears to have inspired the adoption of this broader mission. |
