Abstract: Enhancing the limiting sensitivity of optical/infrared interferometers is the major task for today's array designers. Often the array sensitivity can be compromised by the inability of one sub-system to match the sensitivity of the others in the array. In the case of very red targets, e.g., with V–K ≥3, the visible light fast tip-tilt (FTT) systems typically used at each unit telescope (UT) can easily be the limiting factor. This can have a severe impact on the ability of an array to pursue AGN, YSO and brown dwarf science. Here, we outline how the Magdalena Ridge Observatory Interferometer (MROI) has overcome this problem and report on progress with the delivery of its sensitive FTT system currently being developed in Cambridge, UK.
