Abstract: |
In this summary of the workshop on B[e] stars I discuss the present status of our understanding of the different types of B[e]-stars. Most of the discussion will be on the supergiant B[e] stars: their evolution phase, the relation between these stars and LBVs, the origin of the fast rotation, i.e merging or evolving fast rotating single stars, and the structure and formation of their disks. I briefly discuss the new and fascinating observations of the pre-main sequence HAeB[e] stars, where the disks have been resolved and the processing of dust from interstellar to circumstellar properties has been observed. The studies of some unclB[e] stars, whose evolutionary phase was previously unknown, have resulted in a firm classification as compact planetary nebula (cPNB[e]) and HAeB[e] stars. I highlight very promising new techniques and their first results. I mention some of the remaining problems as well as expectations and suggestions for future research. |
