Abstract: |
We present our new key dataset obtained using the Karl G. Jansky Very
Large Array (VLA), consisting of a spectral and imaging survey of the
carbon-rich asymptotic giant branch (AGB) star IRC+10216 between 18
and 50 GHz. This survey traces the distributions of different molecules
in this star's circumstellar envelope in unprecedented detail
(sensitivity of 1 mJy and resolution of 1'') and
strongly constrains the chemistry in the clumpy shells of AGB stars.
So far, line emission from over 15 species has been identified and
imaged, including lines from different rotational energy levels,
isotopologues, and vibrationally excited states. |
