Abstract: SY Mus is a potential precursor of the B[e]-phenomenon system. In this contribution we modeled the ultraviolet (UV) fluxes of this system at 10 wavelengths from 1280 to 3080 Å. This way we obtained the contribution to the total flux at each wavelength from a nebula and estimated the upper limit of column densities for the negative hydrogen ion in the neutral wind and the neutral hydrogen atom in the predominantly ionized wind. Most importantly, we justified that the asymmetric distribution of the wind from the red giant component accounts for the observed UV continuum light-curve asymmetry.
