Abstract: In the present paper, we consider the main stages of construction of a holographic spectrograph prototype and preliminary results of its experimental tests. The presented prototype works in the visible domain of 430–680 nm and uses a cascade of 3 volume-phase holographic gratings. Results of alignment and first measurements of the Fe emission spectrum are provided. The absence of channels' interaction and stray light is proofed as well as good agreement between theoretical and experimental values of spectral resolution.
