Abstract: |
One of the core problems addressed by the PDS4 data standard redesign was that
of metadata: how to accommodate the increasingly sophisticated demands of search
interfaces, analytical software, and observational documentation into the PDS
product labeling standards without imposing limits and constraints that would
impinge on the quality or quantity of metadata that any particular observer
or team could supply. The PDS4 solution incorporates open standards,
model-driven design, and a hierarchy of namespaces for delegation of authority
to provide a system which enforces uniformity of definition and use, while also
supporting agile customizability as data product types and their metadata
expand. |
