We describe a new data pipeline, designed to help bridge the gap between research in theoretical and observational astrophysics. While these two fields have much to gain from each other, comparing prediction and observation on an equal footing is often far from straightforward. To simplify and standardise such comparisons, our pipeline provides new virtual telescope capabilities on an established platform for accessing and processing theoretical data, the Theoretical Astrophysical Observatory. Using this pipeline, users can realistically simulate observations to match theoretical predictions, facilitating straightforward comparison. Easily accessible from a clean and flexible web interface (https://tao.asvo.org.au/), this new capability opens up new horizons for astronomical knowledge discovery. |
